⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Next best thing to having a personal trainer
11 January 2019
Format: eBook
This is the perfect book for those of us wanting to improve our strength off and on the bike. It’s really simple and easy to follow. It’s not just a book full of exercises to do all at once, it gives you a ‘test’ exercise to do and if you can do that then you move on. It’s a really well put together book and the next best thing to having a personal trainer. I particularly liked the stretching section as, for me, lack of stretching after hard rides have in the past caused tightening up of the muscles and led to niggles.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great introduction to effective strength training
9 January 2019
Format: eBook
I’m a fit cyclist, looking for some performance gains through strength and conditioning. Instead of just throwing yourself into the gym, this book helps you discover what exercises may be best for YOU and gradually helps you tailor a routine specifically for your own needs, helping you stay away from injury while progressing to more advanced exercises. I like the emphasis on the exercises rather than extensive amounts of equipment (I’ve cleared a space on the landing where I have a foam roller, a couple of old dumbbells, a large rubber band and a set of pull-up ring thingys (my only new purchase for £15 from Decathlon). I’m starting to see the benefits after a couple of months of working with the book, and hope this will transfer to increased performance on the bike next season. My only negative is that the descriptions of some of the exercises are a little confusing (captions not quite relating to images).
