The Self-Reliant Entrepreneur: 366 Daily Meditations to Feed Your Soul and Grow Your Business 1st Edition, Kindle Edition
A guide for creating a deeper relationship with the entrepreneurial journey
The Self-Reliant Entrepreneur offers overworked and harried entrepreneurs, and anyone who thinks like one, a much-needed guide for tapping into the wisdom that is most relevant to the entrepreneurial life. The book is filled with inspirational meditations that contain the thoughts and writings of notable American authors. Designed as a daily devotional, it is arranged in a calendar format, and features readings of transcendentalist literature and others.
Each of The Self-Reliant Entrepreneur meditations is followed by a reflection and a challenging question from John Jantsch. He draws on his lifetime of experience as a successful coach for small business and startup leaders to offer an entrepreneurial context. Jantsch shows how entrepreneurs can learn to trust their ideas and overcome the doubt and fear of everyday challenges. The book contains:
- A unique guide to meditations, especially designed for entrepreneurs
- A range of topics such as self-awareness, trust, creativity, resilience, failure, growth, freedom, love, integrity, and passion
- An inspirational meditation for each day of the year. . . including leap year
- Reflections from John Jantsch, small business marketing expert and the author of the popular book Duct Tape Marketing
Written for entrepreneurs, as well anyone seeking to find a deeper meaning in their work and life, The Self-Reliant Entrepreneur is a practical handbook for anyone seeking to embrace the practice of self-trust.

This is John’s best book. He’s distilled centuries of wisdom into short daily bite sized chunks to immediately gain access to a deeper level of leadership and growth in your business. It’s so simple and easy to use. But has profound impact on those that read it.
I skipped forward to a section that’s relevant to a challenge I’m having right now. And I immediately tapped into some great insight.

John Jantsch’s new book, The Self-Reliant Entrepreneur, is unlike all his others. While my copies of his earlier works like Duct Tape Marketing and The Referral Engine are marked up and dogged eared, they still have prominent spots on my bookshelf. While I intend to mark up and dog ear this book, it will not make it to the book shelf. That’s because it’s meant to be read one day at a time. Filled with 366 snippets and thought-provoking prose, this book is intended to be treasured every day of the year.
I’m no expert in the works of the transcendentalist authors of nearly two centuries past. Prominent names like Emerson, Thoreau, Fuller, Longfellow, and Alcott are recognisable, but if I am honest, it’s been years since their words have crossed my mind. But after several days of studying John’s work, I think I’ve been missing out. One of the transcendentalist core beliefs was this phrase: people are at their best when truly “self-reliant” and independent. That jives with the modern view of mega-success entrepreneurs, we give Rockstar status. When you think of Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Marissa Mayer, Richard Branson, you probably don’t believe everyone in the village determined their success. More than likely, you see them as self-reliant and independent. In other words – what the transcendentalist thought we needed to be our best.
The Self-Reliant Entrepreneur will strengthen your character and your confidence to be the entrepreneur (and person) you aspire to be. I highly recommend this book.

When I received my copy of the book, I brought it into my office and shared it with the others to take a look. After an impromptu group reading session, the others opened up their phones to order their own copy.
Now, it is part of our morning ritual as a team.
I love the mind space it puts the team in and enjoy reflecting on these ideas on my own as well.
This may just be the perfect gift for the entrepreneur in your life, the team in your office, or yourself if you want to dive into some thought-provoking self-reflections.
Highly recommend!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of the most important books of our time
23 October 2019 – Published on Books-for-everyone.com
As host of Creative Warriors podcast, I read two books a week. Every now and then a book comes along that makes me think it may be one of the most important books of our time. That’s the case with Self-Reliant Entrepreneur. It’s so good! It beautifully blends old wisdom with contemporary life and business lessons. John’s insights into each lesson are powerful. Important because it teaches the way to success the right way–from the inside out. It’s a mistake to not read this book.
